A Romantic Spring Wedding at The VanLandingham Estate in Charlotte | Apsara & Duncan

A Fresh Spring Celebration at The VanLandingham Estate

Apsara and Duncan’s wedding at The VanLandingham Estate embraced everything that makes a spring wedding in Charlotte feel special. Surrounded by the estate’s lush gardens and historic Southern architecture, their day featured a refined palette of crisp white florals, soft greenery, and elegant details that allowed the beauty of the venue to shine.

Beautifully documented by Shelby Beckler Photography, every moment felt genuine, from the joyful anticipation of the morning to a dance floor filled with laughter later that evening.

A Morning Filled With Excitement

The celebration began with one of the happiest moments of the day as Apsara popped champagne alongside her bridesmaids, whose matching ivory getting ready sets reflected the soft, fresh aesthetic carried throughout the wedding.

As Apsara stepped into her lace gown, every detail came together effortlessly. Her bridal look paired delicate lace with a dramatic full skirt and elegant accessories, creating a classic silhouette that felt perfectly at home at The VanLandingham Estate.

Thoughtful flat lays showcased heirloom inspired stationery, perfume, rings, lace details, and meaningful keepsakes, setting the tone for a day filled with intention.

Honoring Family Through Tradition

One of the most meaningful moments happened quietly before the ceremony.

While not a formal Cambodian wedding tradition, Apsara’s mother carried forward a family custom that reflected values of prosperity and abundance.

“She placed a $100 bill under my heel before I walked down the aisle, a tradition passed down from my father’s side of the family.”

It was a simple gesture that connected generations while symbolizing hopes for the couple’s future together.

Elegant Details Throughout the Estate

White roses, hydrangeas, calla lilies, and lush greenery complemented the estate’s gardens without overwhelming them. Long reception tables featured layered green patterned linens, soft runners, and abundant floral centerpieces, while classic gold chairs added warmth to the outdoor reception.

Invitations with elegant script typography, vintage inspired swan accents, delicate fans, and refined tablescape details created a cohesive look that felt polished yet welcoming.

Throughout the day, The VanLandingham Estate offered countless beautiful backdrops, from garden pathways and stone architecture to sunlit portraits beneath Apsara’s veil.

Portraits That Felt Natural

Apsara and Duncan’s portraits reflected exactly what they hoped to remember about their wedding day.

From quiet moments beneath the veil to joyful walks through the gardens, every image captured their connection in a way that felt effortless and authentic.

The couple shared that Shelby Beckler Photography became one of the most valuable parts of their wedding experience.

“She already understood our personalities and the kind of energy we wanted captured. She took the time to ask what we envisioned while making everything feel natural and effortless. More than anything, she captured our wedding in a way that felt organic, genuine, and truly reflective of who Duncan and I are as a couple.”

A First Dance No One Will Forget

While every wedding includes unforgettable moments, one memory stood above the rest.

During their first dance, Apsara and Duncan attempted one of their signature Dirty Dancing lifts, something they had been doing together since college.

“Right as he planted his legs to lift me, his pants completely ripped. It was chaotic, hilarious, and honestly so fitting for us. I think every single guest at our wedding was laughing, and it ended up being one of the most genuine and memorable moments of the entire day.”

The laughter carried through the evening as guests filled the dance floor, celebrating alongside the newlyweds with the same joy that defined the entire day.
